I agree with the comment above, smokers are treated like lower class in certain situations. I am a smoker, I choose to smoke, for the time being I like smoke. I'll follow the law and not smoke in No Smoking areas, but outside in an open space, come on! I dare someone to tell me to put out my cigarette on the sidewalk of a street.
non-smokers can't get enough! There is a smoking area outside my work and some of the non-smokers who have a lounge area INSIDE where it is air-conditioned now want an area outside to have their lunch? wtf? so they can go outside and complain? hello?? they can go outside all they want!
In CT it is illegal to fire or not hire someone on the basis of whether or not they smoke. I'm not sure if there are any other states with the same law.
it's all silly, it's like they created a whole new underclass.
I don't smoke, but I feel bad for alot of my friends who do, they get treated like criminals.
They can't fire or not hire you because you smoke. They will just use a different reason.
You'll pay a hight premium on your health insurance
There is a company I can't remember the name I think it is here in Ohio where I live that told the workers who smoked to either quit smoking or be fired. And that was allowed to happen. Where I work I am supposed to stand in a certain area that just so happens to be right beside a semi-truck lot where God only knows the kind of people in it, including lot lizards and their pimps running around all night. I work the graveyard and I get in my car to smoke (although we aren't even allowed to do that), I am not standing alone in the middle of the night to smoke a damn cig! It is just not safe. Who knows what other freaking rules they will come up with for us smokers. I am betting one day it will be illeagal, hopefully not in my lifetime!!!
