My uncle left me something in his will that will be read on next Saturday a few days after his funeral.?
Do I have to be present at the reading to get what is in the will?
Answers:
It was his last wish for you to be there, your choice. Sorry for your loss :(
Chris
No,but it would be proper to attend if you are to receive something!
No, but you may want to reconsider missing it. That will is the last communication you'll ever receive from your uncle.
No, but if he felt you were special enough to remember you, you should respect him and be there!
You should feel honored and want to honor his memory!
Actually a lot of attorney now days forego a formal reading of the Last Will and Testament (which is what it is officially called).
The lawyer for the estate would be in contact with you to inform you if your presence is required or not. Most times it isn't.
It isn't a matter of what your late uncle's wishes for you to attend his Will's reading. What his wishes for you is spelled out in the Will.
If it makes you feel better, then by all means go, but what lawyer reads a Will on a Saturday? Most of them are on the golf course by 10 a.m.
What you might consider is calling him to see if your presence is an absolute necessity.
A leave off work would do just to attend your uncle's funeral and the will, my God the will is more valuable than a day's work.
No you don't have to attend. The Executor or the Executrix of the WIll will notify you ifi your uncle left something for you, or if he didn't.
