In British Columbia, can a 16 year old legally move out?
I will be turning 16 soon, and I want to move out with my best friend. Can we legally do that even if our parents do not approve? Can our parents legally stop us? We both have jobs and go to school full time.
Answers:
okay, well i am 16 and live in bc also, small world. i've been checking and you have to be 19 in bc to move out without the consent of parent! it is brutal, i'm looking into it, but you can somehow get emancipated, but once again, i think you need your parents permission. it's tough, really the only right you have when you are 16 is whether or not you want to go to school. i know it sounds dumb, but the kids help line has a pretty good website and help with info like this, you don't have to call needing a counselor, just information is fine.
I will be turning 16 in a couple months and would like to know if i can legally move out of my parents house without their concent?
