Am I right?
I worked a firework stand for a company. On wednesday I finally went to "settle up" - yes it takes that long. Well I had figured that internal theft had occured but I wasn't sure. So while in the office I found out that someone had paid with counterfit bills (that was taken from my pay) and that what I had assumed really happened, someone had stolen more that $1,600.00 from me in either merchandise or cash. I ended up with a deficiet of 200.75 that I owe the company. I brought along three of my family members because after "settleing up" we were going to go sight seeing and do some other things. My grandparents were telling me to not pay the $200.75 and walk away ( I had trouble with the company from the get go) and my mom was telling me to do what I thought was right. I am 21 so all three considered me to be young and inexperienced. Well I decieded to work out a payment plan with the company since I did not have $200.75 in my pocket to hand over. Was I right or wrong?

You are doing the right thing you were responsible! I own my own business and when i screw up I pay the Piper! Don't listen to liberal bullshit about the company is rich and can absorb the loss! Remember you were given a job by this company!! Fulfill it and do the right thing!!
my guess is that you were actually not an employee but a independent contractor selling goods on consignment
Did you sign a contract? What does it say?
You are not responsible for someone passing counterfeit bills at your till, that's the company's loss. Nor are you responsible for shoplifting losses. The company fed you a complete line of B.S.
You State should have a Labor Board. You need to talk to them.
You are being cheated. . . big time.
It is there company, they have to assume the risks, not you. Anyone who tells you about how they own a company and blah, blah, liberal, blah, blah, is someone who can't read and understand the relationship between a company and employee. If you are acting as an employee for the company, they should report theft to the police and deal with it. Someone working as an employee for a 7-11 doesn't pay for shop lifers and no reason you should either.
