Well, it depends on the state, but, generally no. The exception is firing for cause. If your replacement finds you have been stealing from the company, you are gone. If you are convicted of any crime that can affect your job, such as possessing kiddie porn while on comp from your job at the orphanage, you are gone. If they just want you gone because they want to get rid of you, they can't.

yes, I'm pretty sure they can fire you for any reason at any time. In the beginning of your employment you probably signed allot of papers and in those papers there was a pro employer contract stating that the employer may terminate you the employee for any reason at any time. How ever if you feel that you have been wrongly terminated you should visit EEOC.gov, but I am just warning you that it will be very hard to prove if you were fired under illegal pretenses, such as sex, race, handicap. It depends on what the reason was.
If for example you fail a random drug test, being on work comp disability wouldn't generally protect you from being fired.
If you were fired for reasons related to work comp then that would be illegal. That would be a form of discrimination.
