Will I be fired? Advice needed please.?

I need to explain. I am a salesman working in the media. I was just £8 off hitting my target for which I will have achieved my commission.

So I pay for a small campaign with my own money to hit target. I don’t forge documents, I thought Id done everything above bored. Everyone would have been the winner, the client who I brought £16 worth of advertising for, the company because Id have hit target and Id have been paid my commission.

Next thing I know I am hailed into the bosses office and am now facing a disciplinary hearing. The charge is fraud. Only when they explained it to me did I realise I had done something wrong. I was naive and ignorant and am a victim of wanting to just make ends meet by hitting my target.

I have never done anything wrong at the company before, have worked there for just under a year. I know that the charge of fraud is a big one.

I love my job, work hard and am enthusiastic, my manager was however livid. Am I going to be fired. Advice needed.

It doesnt look good! you sound like a decent person though and I'm sure they know that! what will happen is out of your control now, just put forward your honest account of what happenned and hope for the best

good luck xx

Defrauding the system for financial gain is what you have done. A friend of mine did the same thing (and in fact many people do in the sales industry). Unfortunatly, although many people accept this goes on, it is gross misconduct and you will be fired.
Sorry
Explain to them what you just explained there - there is nothing more you can do. You learned a lesson all be it the hard way, if worst comes to the worst you can chalk it up to experience. How did they find out? Was it the company you bought advertising for?
sounds like fraud to me. Sorry good luck
When you question yourself on should you do something, or not do something, just ask yourself, "What would happen if EVERYONE did this?"

Then you could answer your own question. It's called MORALITY; something they don't teach in schools today, nor do parents, obviously.
I don't think you will be fired this time. You will get a good telling off and a written warning, but you must be absolutely straight in the future. They have to make sure you know how serious this is, but as it is your first misdemeanour you will probably be alright. I doubt your boss has never done anything wrong, good luck.
All you can do is explain your side of the story and hope he calms down in the morning and realises it was just a mistake. As this is the first thing you've done wrong they might give you a warning but since i know nothing about you, your job or the comany this is all guess work. Just brace yourself for getting fired and keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't come that.
Your Boss is understandably cross and disappointed with you. In his eyes you have breached his trust and that of the company. Fraud is fraud.
Disciplinary action is no picnic but it may not mean you are sacked. I just don't know.
All you can do is explain what you did and state you did not realise you had done anything wrong. Certainly did not realise it was fraud. That you have well and truly learnt a valid lesson and will never, ever do anything like that again.
Do you belong to a union? If so then have some representation with you as fraud is serious.
I do wish you luck as you do sound like you are decent but naive person.
you are going to be fired. it is your place to know the law. you should have asked if it was against the company policy before you did anything to up your figures. it is fraud and the company that you bought advertising for might do you for fraud too.
just walk away from the job before they sack you. sales jobs are everywhere and if you came in under target then its time to get another job anyway.
You have lost your credibility. You don't say how your manager found out. If it was because you were so open about everything and he would have easily found out, then you could point this out to him. We all deserve a second chance. Write to him quickly and tell him, without excuses, and ask him to forgive you. Tell him, (if you can do it), that you wish to make amends by (whatever means to can think of that would prove you had learned a lesson). If you get the second chance, prove yourself more than your manager expected. Swallow any pride and accept graciously the outcome that doesn't go your way. Be thankful that you were found out. If you had gotten away with it - its the way downhill - very easy until you finally hit the bottom. Your integrity is worth far more than you can imagine. I hope this lesson doesn't cost you too much. Best wishes. RW
