Should pit bulls be eradicated?

Their only use is for fighting. They are extremely dangerous to children... Why do we tolerate the breed anymore?

Answers:
Their only use is not fighting. And they aren't extremely dangerous. Do some research before posting biases. Ive had 2 pits and they were the smartest, most obedient, most loyal dogs I have ever owned. If they are raised to be mean, if they are beaten and starved and abused, they can get mean. Wouldn't you? Then when they lose their fight they are drowned, suffocated, shot in the face . . . how about people that could treat an animal that way be eradicated? or people that believe everything they hear on 60/60 be eradicated? Pits are every bit as harmful, yet less known to snap, as chows and chihuahuas, but no one wants genocide for them. Why not? oh yeah, they fit into yuppies purses. Pit bulls dont. Sucks for them then, huh.

its not the breed. Its the breeders and owners. Maybe we should eradicate them instead.
No. It is all in how they are raised and treated. Chows are just as dangerous, not to mention dobermans, etc. What needs to be eradicated is the whold dogfighting mess. What a disgrace.
its not the dogs, its the owners...ive seen a lot of pit bulls that are very nice
I think bad dog owners and bad breeders should be eradicated!! Pit bulls are not used only for fighting. They can make wonderful loyal pets if not bred or taught to fight.
If we open that can of worms where will it stop? All Dobermans too? How about roosters?
no they shoudn't. its not the dog it's the owner that brings it out in the dog. i have owned two of them for about 4 years now and they're the best dogs i have ever had. they wouldn't hurt a flea! it just depends on how they are raised and what the owner does to them. fighting pitts aren't born that violent they are trained to become that way through starvation, isolation, a diet of raw meat and sometimes even steroids. it's the people who fight them that should be eradicated not the dogs that are forced into it.
They are NOT bad dogs. It`s a lot of owners that treat them bad. If you treat them with love and caring they will be loving dogs. I`ve had 2 and a boxer as well. FYI they are actually extremely good with kids and protective of them. They are the most beautiful dogs with the most beautiful fur.

I hope one bites you A"$
while i concede that pit bulls are of a more aggressive breed of dog, it is not the breed that forces them to act that way. the reputaiton that they have attracts a certain type of owner (be it a dog fighter or a person who needs a scarry dog to keep guard). that type of person is going to treat the dog poorly to force its aggressive nature to come out...if you put a yellow lab in the wrong hands it can be a viscious animal as well
