Laws for 17 year old un wed mothers?

I've recently posted a question for a good friend about another legal issue about driving and really appreciated the responses.THANK YOU I have now been asked about the laws governing a 17 yr old girl that is un wed and the father is not really in the picture. She does not want to stop her partying and her parents recently caught her drunk on the couch and other minors in the house also drunk. They had gone on a camping trip and came home early and found this mess in there house.I guess the question is What would happen if something worse had happened and police were called? What about the baby that thankfully was alright and what would happen to the 17 yr old parent of the child?

Answers:
Well simple. If its a city with a police department and children services that is on top of things, the baby would be taken away and placed in a foster home (maybe placed in the custody of a good relative if one can be found) and the girl would probably be charged with child neglect and endangerment as she should be. Also her parents could be held responsible for minors drinking in their house-even though they were not home at the time. Its their property-they could be held liable and either sued or had criminal charges brought up against them.
Your friend sounds like a real winner (not). Do that baby a favor and everytime she screws up document it and call children services on her.

Age 17 is old enough to be tried and held liable as an adult.

Adoption people, if you have any love for these babies give them to a loving family. Kids need both a Dad and Mom.

Then you can foolishly party yourself to an early grave.
oh wow. that really sucks. im also 17 and a mother. and let me tell you how lucky your friend is that the cops didnt show up to see that. they would have seen that as putting the baby in danger since everyone was drunk and she passed out. she would have gotten arrested(underage drinking) and if the parents or any family members would not take the baby, they would have put him/her in a child services. i was so close to that because me and my baby's father was always arguing and someone called the cops. they also reported it to child services and they warned me that they would take my son if they got another call. your friend needs to learn that if she gets her child taken away from her it will be sooooo hard to get him/her back. she chose to be a mother. let her know its time to start acting like one before its too late.
For more specific information, you should address your state laws. If something had happened to the child, chances are & most likely so, if the police were contacted, at a minimum, the child would have been removed from the custody of the 17 yr old and placed in the custody of the DCF. The dept of children & families would then investigate any allegations of abuse and/or neglect. In some states, the law might ( and possibly would) hold the parents accountable for the behavior - i.e. underage drinking. This 17 yr old is IRRESPONSIBLE and SHOULD NOT HAVE A CHILD!. Her behavior not only endangers her own life but the lives of her friends ( how many will leave that house party and drive drunk - most likely killing someone else - because as we all know - the drunk driver is seldom injured) and MOST IMPORTANTLY - her behavior endangers the safety and LIFE OF HER CHILD.

SHE SHOULD NOT BE A PARENT!

OK having spewed that from my soapbox - here it goes: the parents of the 17 yr old COULD be held liable for any damages arising out of the bad behavior of anyone to whom liquor was supplied. The 17yr could lose the custody of her child! DO YOU NEED MORE??

Your "friend" needs help. AND SOON!!
