Misdemeanor & Law School?

I was wondering if it was possible to get into law schools with a Misdemeanor Class B (Texas). I have turned in all the police reports and a statement about the incident to the law school. The incident happened 5 years ago. I plead guilty and recieved probation. I owned up to the mistake and ever since then I have not had one single problem with the law. I would appreciate it if someone can shed some light on this for me. Thank you.

It will probably depend on the nature of the offense. If it was something like an M.I.P., as long as you're up-front and honest about it (and have a decent GPA and LSAT score), you'll probably be fine (considering that it has been five years). If it was something like misdemeanor assault or the like, you will probably have a harder time. If it was a crime that reflects poorly on your honesty (fraud or the like), you should probably consider another career.
If you do get in, be sure to be very honest about the matter on your Declaration of Intent to Study Law (you will have to file this with the BLE in order to take the bar exam in Texas). If you lie, they will find out about it and you'll be screwed. Also, since you have a smudge on your record, take care of the Declaration of Intent during your 1L year so you will be able to breathe easy. you don't want the stress as the bar exam approaches.
I am guessing it was a first offense DWI. You should be fine. Just remember to be completely honest.

I guess you could say, takes one to know one. I feel for you, I have never ever met an attorney at law that was on the up and up.
If you are serrious about law school I would see an attorney & see if he/she can get this dismissed - IE go in & bargain with the prosecutor. - You didnt say if this happened before you were 18 - if so, depending on law law in redneckville - you may be able to get this "youthful transgression" expunged from your record, or alternatively get your record sealed. I think regardless, a law school will admit you ( because it is a business ) - BUT - THE BIG "IF" is getting admitted to the bar - they are extremely anal about this - you can be denied admission to the bar for everything from not paying library fines, not paying tickets, denying you ever got tickets, calling someone of another race,geneder or creed an expletive & worse committing any kind of crime. If you get admitted to law school - I would find the time to pack on some charity work to show you have a "contrite heart" - even though we all know yer doin it fer the money like everyone else ( no offense intended ).
