Whatever you choose to do, you might want to stay away from PETA (aka Poorly Educated Teen Activists, People Exhibiting Terrible Attributes). It's an extremist organization that actually kills more animals than it helps.
PETA has contributed tens of thousands of dollars to animal-rights activists who have been charged with or convicted of crimes.
Ingrid Newkirk is the head of PETA; she is nothing more that a extremist. Don't fall for her BS image of "saving the animals." This is the same woman who urged Yasser Arafat to spare animals in suicide bombings, but could care less about the humans that were being killed. To show just how much of a crackpot this woman is, click the following link to see her afterlife requests:
PETA members believe that animals should have the same rights as people.
PETA head, Ingrid Newkirk has stated that there is no moral difference between poultry farms and Nazi death camps.
PETA has stated repeatedly that their goal is "total animal liberation." This means no pets, no meat, no milk, no zoos, no circuses, no fishing, no leather, and no animal testing for lifesaving medicines.
PETA funds the misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine 3, an animal-rights organization that presents itself as an unbiased source for nutritional information and has links to a violent animal-rights group called SHAC.
PETA has used their contributors’ tax-exempt donations to fund the North American Earth Liberation front, an FBI-certified “domestic terrorist” group responsible for fire bombs and death threats.
PETA cares more about chickens and other farm animals than they do about starving or sick children..
PETA regularly targets kids as early as elementary school with anti-meat and anti-milk propaganda. They also operate a webpage which advocates to people to stop drinking all milk because its supposedly a health hazard! PETA believes that milking cow's is a painful and hurtful experience. However, I once asked a cow about it, and he told me he ENJOYS getting his nipples squeezed, therefore, PETA LIES!
PETA spends less than one percent of its $13 million budget actually caring for animals.
PETA has repeatedly attacked groups like the March of Dimes, the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the American Cancer Society, for conducting animal testing to find cures for birth defects and life-threatening diseases.
"I think it would be great if all of the fast-food outlets, slaughterhouses, these laboratories and the banks that fund them exploded tomorrow.” -PETA Vice President Bruce Friedrich
PeTA co-founder Ingrid Newkirk once said even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, "we'd be against it."
"Arson, property destruction, burglary and theft are 'acceptable crimes' when used for the animal cause." -Alex Pacheco, Director, PeTA
"We feel that animals have the same rights as retarded children." -Alex Pacheco, Director, PeTA,
"To those people who say, `My father is alive because of animal experimentation,' I say `Yeah, well, good for you. This dog died so your father could live.' Sorry, but I am just not behind that kind of trade off." -Bill Maher, PeTA celebrity spokesman
"Six million Jews died in concentration camps, but six billion broiler chickens will die this year in slaughter houses." -Ingrid Newkirk, President, PeTA,
"The life of an ant and that of my child should be granted equal consideration." -Michael W. Fox, Vice President, The Human Society
Regan when asked which he would save, a dog or a baby, if a boat capsized in the ocean: "If it were a retarded baby and a bright dog, I'd save the dog." -Tom Regan
haha pathetic
oh yeah the idea already taken
two big groups are
peta.com
actionforanimals.com
animal cruelty clubs are so cliche any more...
I mean seriously... save the whales was cool back in the 90's
ok for one... join PETA
umm...
no random killings of animal
no sacrifices of animals without permit or religious purpose
Work on local chapter of PETA, many infrastructure work already done.
Read the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is a great document. Much of it could apply to animals as well.
You could also contact PETA and ask if you can affiliate, or collect some funds to send them to get materials you can use to establish your own club.
Here are some points I would consider:
-Every animal in domestic care has the right to adequate food, water, a healthy home, and exercise.
-Every animal in domestic care has the right to dignity; it should not be tortured nor neglected.
-Every animal is a sentient being. It has feelings, thoughts, desires, fears. One should be sensible to this in the animals.
-Animals are not human beings, nor should we expect them to act as such. Pet owners, ranchers, farmers, and others who have animals in their care should exercise patience and love with their animals.
Good luck!
Try some of these 'laws'
Every animal deserves to have a 'good' life.
NO animal deserves to be beaten, or left 'tied' outside.
Even the 'worst animal' deserves a chance with someone they can love.
Those are three of the 'laws' from the Posada group in Washington state. Posada is the name of a donkey who was 'terribly abused' and died from that abuse. They now 'take in' animals (both wild and domestic) on their farm Posada's Acres (I could be incorrect on the name, though) ... and they 'speak' to other groups when asked ... go to their website ( www.Posada.com ) and you'll see more.
Thank you for caring about animals and their 'welfare.'
come on, seriously, just stop.
already too many ridiculous laws out there already. I mean you may go to jail for a longer time if you hurt your dog than if you kill a fellow human being- thats just WayMessedUp!
I was watching that TV show where they "rescue" animals in NY city
& heres what i saw in one episode
they go out to this horse farm and the horses have like half a bucket of water
oh but htats not "enough"
and they say- OoO where's the grain in these stalls
i mean thats stupid b/c anyone who knows horses knows grain isnt free choice. well its a long storyso i'll skip to the point. but what im trying to say is- before you go all out, actually learnnnnnnn about what you supposedly stand for. mmk?
and don't believe all that PETA propoganda either.
First you need a definition of what constitutes animal cruelty.
For example, is the mere killing of an animal cruel?
After establishing a realistic definition of what constitutes animal cruelty, the next thing is your objectives.
Also you need to decide whether your animal cruelty rights apply to all animals or just those you personally like.
Sounds like a waste of time.
There's enough be original.
