Contract law and agency law?

How can I give an example of how a conversation between the person answering the phone at a doctor's office and the patient who called could create a contract, demonstrating knowledge of contract law and agency law?

Answers:
the person answering the phone in the dr's office places an order for office supplies or medical supplies at the dr's request. She orders 100 syringes for $1 each and says they will pay $10 extra for overnight delivery and to charge it to the dr's account. Agency = she is acting as dr's agent and binding him to contract to buy these and contract is formed for purchase and sale.

That would be just incredibly difficult, because the receptionist is not ordinarily going to make a contract with anyone on the phone.

Here's a better example: you call the corner deli to order lunch, telling the counterman you want pastrami rye mustard glass tea. Agency: the counterman's declaration that he's got it and it will be ready in five minutes and the tab is ten bucks plus the customer's "OK" makes a contract, which is binding on the corporation that owns the deli because the counterman has at least apparent authority to take an order.
