Why do politicians get a cushy job once they are out of office?
If they move into private commerce well OK but why should they get another publicly funded position almost automatically, even though they have done a lousy job in office. Thinking particuarly about T Blair and Jack McConnell (ex Scottish First Minister). Also moving on to the House of Lords.
Answers:
Well, they're so used to all the "privileges", and everything they get being in parliament, that if they suddenly had to do an ordinary job, the shock would kill them. I mean, no paid-for-by-the-public second home in London? No chauffeur driven car? No elaborate yet secret-to-the-public expenses? What ever would they do?
Because they liked the cushy jobs in office
they know how to network
because they are all greedy pigs
Fantastically brilliant yet simple question and . I don't know the answer.
The only answer I can think of is "Why do politicians get ...?" Because, we let them.
It is not T Blair, it is A Blair.
This is because his name is Anthony.
(am I showing my age here?)
Blair's job is not that cushy I wouldn't have thought. Swanning around the middle east being ignored by everyone; and the pay isn't great either.
But I don't think Blair did so bad given the whole 10 years of his tenure. But I expect I'll get flamed for saying that.
Nell--looks like he is standing the right line for jobs with benefits. Maybe you should get in that line...
Because it's not WHAT you know, it's who you know.
I'll answer that when it happens to me (more likely that David will be able to first though!!) ...<GB>
It's the Old Pals Act. You've scratched my back now I'll scratch yours a little and maybe you can do me some good here
Because they have friends in low places. And they know where the bodies are.
