DO you think the additional Multiple thousand dollar traffic fines is fair to VA citizens?
if you live in va and get a trafic ticket for a mister menor then you have to pay an extra $1000 a year for 3 years + the ticket and court fees

Here's a tip, don't do anything to get a ticket for a misdemeanor
and still with that...they don't learn how to drive good!!

That sounds like Massachusetts where we have an insurance point system that takes years to work off a traffic violation and get back to level.
That's a totally outrageous fine for a motor vehicle infraction. We have runaway laws these days and it needs to stop. We're being eaten alive with do-gooders who just want to make more and more laws. If we want to live in a free society, sometimes we are not always going to be perfect.
on the surface its fair. everyone knows the law - everyone now knows the price to break the law.
however i don't think the fines are REASONABLE. most young adults have the worst records and the least amount of money. when i was a kid a $100 tickets would set me back big time. imagine a $500 ticket. that's like rent.
what will happen is what is happening in Texas. more people will not pay the fine and drive with suspended licenses.
i'm not in favor of the high fines but i think on the surface its fair in the sense that it applies to everyone.

It's amazingly fair and needed around the country. You really should read the new law instead of a knee jerk outcry.
First it does not cover speeding or normal infractions. This is under section 1)
Civil Remedial Fees. The legislation creates “civil remedial fees” to be assessed against Virginia residents convicted of certain motor vehicle-related or driving crimes. These civil remedial fees do not apply to traffic infractions.
It does cover:
(a) Driving on a suspended license: $250
(b) Reckless driving: $350
(c) DUI and related offenses (§§ 18.2-266, -266.1, 46.2-341.24): $750
(d) Other misdemeanors, “Any other misdemeanor conviction for a driving and/or motor vehicle related violation of Title 18.2 or [Title 46.2] that is not included in one of the
preceding three subdivisions”: $300
(e) Felony convictions, “Any felony conviction for a driving or motor vehicle-related offense under Title 18.2 or [Title 46.2]”: $1,000
First for the $1000.00 fine to kick in you have to commit a felony. That ain't 15 miles over the limit. Second anyone who cries about this being unfair has probably been convicted of one or more a-e and deserves the added penalty. Again, I recommend you actually know what your talking about next time you post.
A misdemeanor is a criminal charge which means you really do have to be driving recklessly to get one.
So really if you are going to be that dangerous on the road to warrant a criminal charge, I really don't care what you have to pay.
