I find it funny and horribly depressing that it took something like what happened to those five people?
In Newark before the citizens of the city became outraged. If the murder rate is so high over there and is up 50 percent then do something about it! Don't wait until something so messed up like a apparent robbery that turns into 4 people being shot execution style before it wakes the city up. The mayor, the people of the city, and the police need to grow some balls and start cleaning up that city!

I agree. Newark has been a poo hole for a long time. They need more cops and citizens to stand up and help them. Everyone there has the "wee didn't see anything " mentality, and when that happens crime runs rampant.
The murder rate is really no higher than anywhere else in the country. In the old west it was even worse. It is just with 24/7 media coverage now it is easier to see what is going on all over the world. and it makes it look like the world is coming to an end. It is sad, though that there are people out there that are crazy enough to do something like this, and there are not enough mental health facilities to help them all.
In my opinion, this is how it is in most places...nothing can ever happen to you, and when it finally does, thats when YOU would like to take action. It is a shame that this is what its taking to get some action into place, but truth is, the city is already outraged at whats going on, but when you dont want to speak up about it, nothing can be done. Its easier to say you know nothing, than to risk your own life and point fingers at the culprits (not saying that this is right, but its what happens). the code of the streets is turned against those who want to help (snitches and btches get stiches, etc...I mean look at Busta Rhymes). I feel everything is in the hands of our future...teach your children, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, whoever, that just because they see it on TV, doesn't mean its cool. I grew up in a city similar to Newark, but I'm a college grad, working my way to the top. I try to instill in all the younger members of my family that street life gets you no where fast (and they can look to those older than me in the family who will tell them the same thing). Its a fast, thrilling ride that will end quick. Spread the word.teach your community...one voice can work wonders.
