Why do people think that changing one rediculous law will lead to absurd negative "slippery slopes"?

for example: gay marriage will lead to bestiality, legal suicide and euthenasia will lead to "If suicide were legal, it would be only a matter of time before government came along and assigned a value to your life. Soon after would come organ harvesting." (from another user), legal marijuana will cause the downfall of society, anyone have any comments or other examples.

Answers:
The purpose behind making a law often serves a broader agenda. One takes a close look at WHO is pushing for the law to understand their agenda. If it is from ardent Leftists, one can be sure that the law does not stand alone, that it is merely one more step in breaking down a society's strengths in order to replace them with Leftist control.

A good example is the 'assault weapon' bans. Leftist politicians insisted they would not go after any more guns, that they merely wanted to address that one specific issue. But they did go after more guns, and more every year. Progressively, they moved to ban small handguns, standard capacity magazines, rifles that are 'too powerful'... one thing after another and all of them in violation of the Bill of Rights. The broader agenda was to trick the public into accepting some sort of a restriction in the first place, therefore creating a precedent for circumventing the Constitution that could be more broadly applied.
