I'm in the process of having a roommate and I own my home. Anyone know of sources re: legal rights?

Answers:
You need to realize that this person is not a roommate. He or she is a tenant. As such, there is a fine line you may have to walk here. Yes, there are landlord tenant laws in each state. And they differ from state to state. But you cant kick this person out on a whim if something goes wrong. You would have to evict them. So pick your roommate carefully.

Sign a rental agreement.
Landlord-tenant laws vary by state/country.

Many local court houses have packets of information about landlord-tenant laws.

You can also search on the web using Yahoo (or your favorite search engine) for "landlord tenant STATE" where 'STATE is your home state.
rent month to month.

Go online to tenat landlord right in your city/state and it will give you all the infortmation you need.
