Is it illegal to only hire persons 18 or older?
I am the manager of a tele-marketing company. I want to change our practices to only hire people 18 or over. Is this legal, or age discrimination?

It can't be illegal - for several industries it is actually illegal to hire persons under the age of 18 (heavy industry and adult shops to name two)
additionally age discrimination laws only apply to adults.and although courts have often found in favor for age discrimination regarding senior citizens i know of no instance of age discrimination cases being successfully argued by a person being discriminated against for being too young
Nope. The local Home Depot only hires 18+ and nobody has ever given them problems. 18+ is just an insurance against high liabilities.

Under the age of 18, there are many restrictions imposed by labor laws, concerning child labor. If the hours you work, the times of operation, conflict with a person under the age of 18 then I would say yes you can. You would have the case of a BFOQ(Bonified Occupational Qualification).
No it's not legal. You'd be exploiting the youth and that is illegal. Haven't you ever heard of "sweat shops"? That's what you'd have if you hired under 18 year olds.
