What could be my outcome?

I have never been in trouble in my 23 yrs of living, but unfortunately this past weekend I got in a physical fight with a girl and I was the one arrested for "assualt causing bodily injury". I know this could be bad but with me never being in trouble and this girl harrasing me for years and she does have a criminal record. One charge of which she just got off probation for criminal mischief which was an incident involving me also. What may happen to me and how serious is this charge-what options do I have?

Answers:
Don't worry. your charges will likely be dropped.

Did you file charges against her too? If not, do so. She may drop the charges if you drop the charges.

Otherwise, if convicted you will have a criminal record.

Isn't there just some way you can not have anything to do with her?
Well you have never gotten in trouble jails are so OVER CROWED thees days they really wouldn't give you any long time! At the most may 2 weeks 28 days! NOT ALOT! TRUST me your fine!
This depends on the state you live in...

Where were you when the fight took place? This is the most important question I can ask. If you were on her property then you need to get an attorney because things are looking really bad. You won't go to jail but you might have to serve some community time (volunteer work, anger management, etc.) Second, where you drinking? If so, then her attorney can say you being intoxicated was the reason for the fight (also, the judge might think you have a drinking problem and an anger issue).

If you were on public property or your own and you were sober then I would file a counter-suit against her. If you have any witnesses, bring them with you if this goes to court. Depending on the judge, if you are found guilty it may not ever get on your record. That's why you do the volunteer work.

Be careful and get an attorney.
Judges see these kinds of cases everyday. Day in and day out. Over and over and over. They have heard every reason, every excuse, every justification. Judges see these petty little crap arguments escalate until someone gets seriously hurt or killed all the time. The Judge is going to BURN both of you and will mark BOTH your files for escalation if either of you ever show up in front of a Judge again. Both of you have the ability to avoid each other and stop this petty garbage and the Judge knows this as well.
IMHO the Judge will give you a fine and community service and a warning that the path to jail is walked one step at a time and you have taken your first step. The odd thing is that the first few steps are voluntary. The last few steps will be taken with you kicking and screaming and crying all the way.
THOSE are your options......
