What is the point of making Cannabis a class 'B' drug?

I believe that making Cannabis a class B drug just makes it more expensive to buy and involves the courts, police and prison service in extra work. Does anyone know of any death attributable to Cannabis? Cars and Alchohol kill millions worldwide every year. What class are they in...?

They say it is going to cause many mental health problems in the future.
Funny that, I'm a 60's child and most of the successful businesses of today are run by hippies of the 60's! Then they we were all going to go mad and burn in hell, I wonder why it didn't happen.
This nanny state wants to control every single aspect of our lives even to the extent of wanting to take DNA from every person taken to a police station, including litter droppers!
This country needs to open it's eyes while we still have time!

Cars and alcohol are heavily taxed so its OK
Because it increases the market for my families coke business.
The Prohibitionist are still at work with drugs...

I guess the prohibition of alcohol went so well, let's continue on with marijuana...

They are nothing but a joke...

They can classify it however they would like. It's still not going to stop people from doing it.

Since the inception of the "War on Drugs", drugs have become cheaper, more accessible. and more pure.

That's a fact.

I have yet to see a kid be able to go and buy a 6 pack of beer on the street corner...why is that? Because it's regulated.

But, people are so brainwashed by the governments anti-drug message that they don't see the big picture.

It's asinine.
because drugs kill and very bad and to be honest smoking stumps your growth
No Idea man, like them, Ive heard its something to do with "the Potency" the solid was far superior in the 70,s, and the weed was good if you knew where to get it, when was the last time ya seen temple ball, gold seal etc, once they work out a system to tax it, like cars and alcohol, i,m sure it will be class c again.
Not sure. Maybe because it's becoming more ubiquitous? The fact is it's been an illegal drug for as long as most politicians remember, ergo, it must be bad. Legalising it, regulating it and taxing it would be beneficial to society and in time would probably see a decrease in use - the government could control people's ammount and the rebellious image of taking an illegal drug would be gone. Too much police time and money is spent on a phony war on a drug that is a lot less harmful than alcohol and tobacco.
because for all the people who dont have adverse affects from it there will be two who do. i've known people try and top themselves due to dope, i've smoked it hard myself for thirteen yrs and came off nearly a yr ago. i cant tell you how much i wish i'd done it sooner. there's alot to be said for seeing clearly. i do agree with alcohol tho. and i agree its a worse drug than cannabis. it contributes to more crime then heroin addiction. recreational users of the drug or those who smoke heavily and cant see what they're doing to themselves believe its a harmless drug but its not mate. it removes you from reality and makes you live in your own little bubble. its still a dangerous drug. things dont have to be lethal to be dangerous to society.
I wish I could show you some of the people I've met whose poor brains were completely addled by the use of cannabis. We are so quick to ban substances sold on the open market which are dangerous to just a tiny minority of people, and yet there are plenty of individuals who for some reason defend cannabis and think that it should be generally available. Speaking of cars, what about the many people who drive while under the influence of cannabis, which stays in the system for longer than one might suppose?
