How are U.S. Passports actually made? I am curious of the process the Dept of State uses to make them.?

I need to know what happens from the time that the Dept of State receives the documents from the acceptance facility to the time that the actual passport is mailed off to the customer. If possible, I need to know what are the times associated with each step in the process.
