How can this be justice?
Raja, 19, Aitzaz Zafar, 19, Usman Malik, 20, Akber Butt, 20, and Awaab Iqbal, 20, were all found guilty of possessing articles for terrorist purposes. These men, after training in Afghanistan and Pakistan, planned to create as much death and carnage in the U.K as they could. Detectives uncovered a wealth of material on the men's computers. These included Internet conversations justifying suicide bombings, the need for terrorism training and cover stories for travelling abroad. Propaganda in the form of books, videos, songs and film clips were also found as well as extracts from the al Qaeda Training Manual, including diagrams of triggering devices and a list of the most popular types of explosive. Since they are British subjects, they are surely guilty of Treason. How is it then that they only receive jail terms of three years. They have no loyalty to the country that feeds them and in less than three years time, we will all have to watch our backs. - DEPORT THEM when they're released

I agree with you 100%. Yet again, it must be the 'Politically Correct', "SOFT TOUCH BRITAIN" attitude. It sucks.
100% behind you on that one - but - deport them now and save hundreds of thousands of pounds on baby sitting jail fees.
I second that, deport them, how can people who pose such threat to the people of great britian be allowed to stay. I wish The United Kingdom was abit more selective to who they allow to stay like Austrailia
I thought the sentence for treason was being sent to the Tower - beheading! Some laws should never have been changed.
This country has just become a nanny state for these treacherous animals. In this country the judges only hand out lengthy sentences if the crime involved loss of money. Rapists, thieves, paedophiles, terrorists are given a cushy life in prison with menus, tvs etc at the tax payers expense.
These pathetic little cowards should be taken into the street and stoned or have their hands cut off just like they would in their own country.
No justice is the answer, should have got life and that meant no getting out. If you deport them, they will be back and do it again, im sure.
I thought sentence was death for treason ? If my dog bit me he would get put down, our country , our rules !
Iwonder if politicians read these q& a's
I agree with you. Three years and they'll be back out probably still willing to carry out terrarism and probaly will!
We are a bunch of docile, apathetic idiots ruled by self serving out of touch pr@ts.
It is as easy as that.
I agree
A slow and painful death is the only justice for these low life, warped scum bags.
I don't know enough about the law to say whether this is a reasonable sentence or not, unlike the rest of your answerers.
But the facts are that this was a 'thought crime'. These men talked, downloaded, argued their nasty brand of Islamic Radicalism, but didn't actually do anything. They have not killed anyone, they have not planted any bombs, they have not made any direct threat - and surely the harshest penalties should be reserved for those who actually carry out such atrocities.
So many of you believe the death penalty, or the life imprisonment to be a deterrent to crime - how can that be so if you want to use it for crimes at the lower end of the terrorist spectrum?
And actually, they are not guilty of high treason - high treason is the crime of disloyalty to the Sovereign amounting to an intention to undermine their authority or the actual attempt to do so. Offences constituting high treason include plotting the murder of the Sovereign; having sexual intercourse with the Sovereign's consort, with his eldest unmarried daughter or with the heir to the throne's wife; levying war against the Sovereign and adhering to the Sovereign's enemies, giving them aid or comfort; and attempting to undermine the lawfully established line of succession.
Just talking about it and downloading stuff isn't enough.
Deporting British citizens, is not only a dangerous precedent, but probably illegal. Which country do you think would want to take our criminals after release? Would you have us deport people with Anglo Saxon names - after all, career criminals have no loyalty to the country which feeds them and when they are released we all have to watch our backs.
These people are, no doubt, a danger to us all and deserve incarceration, but don't make the mistake of thinking that Islamic Terrorists are the only dangerous criminals in UK prisons.
I agree with you in principal, however you cannot deport British citizens. They would just arrive back here. Am surprised they got convicted at all. No way I support them, but reading books and getting info from the internet is not a crime. As for the chat room conversations is nice to know the internet police monitor everything we say!
Treason should be punished by the death penalty
We are led by asses who have no backbone.
These 'terrorists' will not change their ways. They will resent us more. They care not if they die for the cause. To them it is an honour. Make a note of their names. I guarantee we will hear more from them in the future.
Personally I would deprt them and anyone else who preached hatred against the country that took them in.
To hell with their human rights, what about ours? Mr Brown!!
its poor justice, but you have to rememeber that they are terrorist so its sad to know how big their brains are.. muhaha..
no really... their names have been published everywhere... so everyone knows them, they have no life anymore, even after prison, they wont get a good job, they wont make any money, they'll soon wish they were dead :) they'll be begging for a bullet
What the system should do , is to try them for treason , find them guilty , and hang them , all quite legal
Unfortunately as they are British citizens they can't be deported.
They are obviously mentally ill and should have been locked away in a hospital for the criminally insane and perhaps given a frontal lobotomy to cure them of their illness.
