Sick pay when do you receive it after sick not given to employer?
how does sick pay work how long after first sick note is given in to employers, do you have to wait before receiving pay
Answers:
my sis just had this problem. her employers said they were waiting for the cheque (from government) before they give her her sick pay but she looked it up on the net and your employers are meant to pay you and then wait to be paid back by the government. that is if your entitled to sick pay obviously! and i think you have to be ill for 3+days or be off work for more than 3 days
Do you even know if you get "sick pay"? It's not an entitlement program, you know...most employers don't give at-will employees sick days...you take off you don't get paid...
hi you should be entitled to statuary sick pay after your first 3 days of sick this will last for around 26 weeks as long as you are handing in a doctors sick note.
The first 3 days are "waiting days" where you don't get Statutory sick pay.
It is paid from the 4th day of the sickness.
It's paid by the company not the government. The days when the company claimed SSP back from the government ended about 20 years ago!!
In the UK... you get sick pay(if you are entitled) about a week after you hand in your note otherwise you will receive Income Support(if you are entitled) as for the USA, I don't know? Is is not compulsory but as I said, Income Support will be provided if you meet the requirements. ps. DON'T get sick.
Depends where you are:
UK
To get SSP you must be:
Sick for at least 4 or more days in a row (including weekends and bank holidays) and earn at least £87 per week.
SSP is a daily payment and is usually paid for the days that you would normally work. The days that you would normally work are known as Qualifying Days (QDs)

USA:
You might be surprised to learn that, in the absence of an employment agreement that indicates otherwise, your employee rights do not automatically entitle you to sick pay, unless you work in San Francisco and qualify.

THE MAJORITY OF THE ANSWERS ON THIS QUESTION ARE FROM THE US.
In england we get statuory sick pay so why try and answer questions that really dont concern you or even have knowledge about we are not the 52nd. state yet.
THE ANSWER to the question the first pay day that falls after your three standing days if you do not recieve this payment inform the local job centre. The employers do not have to wait until they get the cheque from the government
in fact they can pay you from the deductions they have made from other workers for NI etc. dont let them kid you
give sick note in to your Personnel department or boss. they will tell you whether to apply to the DHS, if they do not plan to pay you. (N.B. I'd suggest making a copy .. employers are very good at losing things they find too difficult to deal with).
If you have any sick-days..you have to tell pay role, your taking a sick-day..then it should show up on your check w/ a notation 'sick-day" for the day you missed.and your check should be the same...
