Why is there still lead paint?

I have a feeling I'm not the first person who's wondered.

Answers:
For the same reasons it was used in the first place. On wood lead paint can deter insect infestation. On metals, especially steel it helps slow corrosion. It is used to make some paints more opaque as a pigment and as a filler to make a thicker film of paint. The danger to humans is from ingesting the paint. I remember public service ads warning people to keep children from eating flaking paint in the home. Like who really needed to be told that anyway? Lead paint on toys I can understand banning as kids do chew on them, pencils too. I have known adults who chew on their pencils. But lead paint on say a bulldozer? Why not?

Because not all countries have the same rules or laws.
I haven't seen this question before, but I also wonder why it is still used. Is it only unsafe if ingested? Can it be absorbed through the pores in the skin? Hope somebody can answer!
because its cheap and effective. BTW I sure hope bulldozers used in the construction of my house didnt have any flaking into my yard.
For the same reason there still asbestos even when they know since the 1900s that it's one of the most cancerous substances in the World.

"Corporate greed" it's the answer. Lead-paint it's cheaper so they will never give it up.
Most of the stuff they say about lead is just a bunch of hysteria. I've lived in an old house with lead paint all my life, and I played with die-cast lead toys when I was a kid (not to mention, I used lead sinkers all the time when going fishing), and nothing ever happened to me. I guess if you breath in lead dust directly on a daily basis (especially when you're a child) you might have developmental problems, but otherwise it's just a crock of B.S. for the media to churn up on a slow day when they don't have any other stories.
Lead, or calcium, or arsenic, or other metals in paint
increase the bonding and permanence of the paint.
Just too bad for us that we can't adsorb much without harm.
