Do you think that a prisoner should be convicted because he was caught masturbating in his cell?
True story. An inmate was caught by a woman prison gaurd. He was masturbating and now he is being convicted because his cell is a "limited access public place".
Do you think that's right or wrong?
Answers:
In the state prison where my husband is, they get written up for masturbating. It's called a "Self Mutilation" ticket. This is good example of many of the crap that goes on in the prison facilities that most people are not aware of.
My husband had several articles of clothing missing from the laundry room and I had to send more money to pay for new t-shirts and towels, etc. He had one t-shirt left and they had written him up for washing it in the sink in his own cell.
People get written up and thrown in Closed Custody Units or Solitary confinement for so many minor and petty things. Unfortunately these tickets and so forth can and does add on more time to the person's sentence & prevents them from being eligible for Parole.
There are so many misconceptions of what goes on behind the walls that most people have no clue about. I was one of them until my husband had to go to prison. Most people in prison are there for non-violent crimes. Many individuals are in there just made bad mistakes and want to move forward and become productive members of society again.
he's locked up all day...let him have his fun
Convicted of what? And I would also have to believe that it's almost an everyday occurance for the guards to see stuff like that.
It is a rule in most jails he should have got in the shower or put a sheet over that thing.
so if a prisoner gets raped while in jail, thats fine, right?
but god-forbid he masturbates alone.
that would be double jeopardy
he's already there because he is a jack o**
it's just wrong. If the tables were turned and a female prisoner were masturbating, a male prisoner would have probably encouraged it.
It's a double standard.
I CANT BELEIVE THAT I AM TAKING THE TIME TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION.WILL ANYWAY HERE GOES.SO WHAT HE'S IN JAIL ALREADY,ALL THEY CAN DO IS MAKE HIM STAY THERE.
Was he directing it at her? Inmates get 3 cases in prison, if so, the inmate is formally charged and registers as a sex offender.
Is this a criminal conviction, or just a charge within the prison?
I've never heard if it being used to bring "street charges", but it's a really common write-up in prisons and jails. A lot of inmates will masturbate in front of women on purpose, because it makes them uncomfortable, or because they can later use it to blackmail the guard if she doesn't report it [if he alleges she was flirting or doing sexual favors, the guard can face felony prosecution]. I think it's justified, because I've seen the way the whole game plays out in the prison system, and it has to happen many, many times before an inmate is usually disciplined for it, much less criminally charged.
It's almost impossible to walk into a cell block and not be noticed, so I'm assuming the guy was doing it intentionally, not that she somehow snuck up and saw him doing it. If so, then I believe it's right for him to be charged, because that's not something anyone should have to put up with at work, regardless of the situation.
I heard this story, the guard saw him on the security camera. And he was convicted of indecent exposure or something, and got 60 days in county jail.
I personally think that it is ridiculous.
1. What was she doing watching him so closely anyway?
2. What's her problem? Trying to get this guy in trouble? He's already in PRISON!! haha
3. I heard she has caught like 6 guys doing it, she must be on some kind of power trip, and likes it because she feels in control, she needs beat. lol
