Why can't the U.S treat Criminals like Criminals?
It is very disturbing to see all the things the U.S do for criminals. for instace, why are they allowed to see their families while they are incarcerated by a murder. Is whomever makes the law thinking that assassins gave their victims a chance to see their families or take a last meal before killing them. Why is that criminals end up with more rights than victims and their families?

Because we are a country that believes in morality and justice.
Criminals have very few rights. What do you suggest? we torcher them.
It gives the government a reason to tax the living hell out of its citizens so the rich beurocrats get richer and the poor get deader.
4th and 5th amendments
Because we have too many Liberal judges and Liberal lawmakers. I'm all for swift justice and the death penalty as long as we are positive that person is guilty. Otherwise, we can just leave them in prison.

Well if someone close to you ever goes to jail, and you were still on good terms with then wouldn't you want to see them? Visits not only benefit the criminal but also the family's. Jail is like a rehab for most criminals, the ones not on death row anyway. So some form of human contact and normalcy is needed.

It's because no one wants to take a stand on this issue. I agree, but I think there is a fine line between stereotyping and individual for a first criminal act and those that are repeat offenders. There are some that do reform and make changes, in their lives...because they want to! Now, the others that repeat crimes because of some strange psychological need, I feel you! I think that the whole working system of prison reform and laws within the US don't need to be so "teddy bear" or friendly.
I get frustrated because I am an educated person, make good choices, do all of my civic duties, and struggle to make ends meet. Working two jobs and going to school to make ends meet, while the government takes care of prisoners that gave up their freedom outside the prison walls. I think that if a person is doing time, they should do it, the old school way~! Alcatraz baby! No enemities, but silence and time.
Because Congress always exempts itself from the laws it makes for everyone else.
it's inhumane. America makes crazy laws, politicians are trying to make citizens dumb so they can control them! i don't think anybody knows what every important laws really means. i personally believe in the golden rule, which is basically, if you don't want that to happen to you, don't do it someone else. so i think that should be the punishment for murder, whatever way you killed someone, the murderer should die the same way.
Because of the politicians and the lawyers. Did you ever hear the old story that was being told just before the 20th century began? It goes like this, there is a small town somewhere with one lawyer and he barely gets by, but when another lawyer moves into town dam* if they both don't get rich. That is why criminals get more than we do. I personally think they should go back to the way it was, right or wrong. If you are convicted of a killing you were hung. And hung in front of the whole town, today that would be on national TV. It is a gruesome sight. I don't think crime would be that high if the criminals today saw what was in store for them if hangings were televised. Do you?
We do treat them like criminals. People convicted of a felony are not allowed to vote and cannot get a job besides working a twelve hour shift at some sweat shop factory. Anyone convicted of sexual molestation of a child has his or her picture posted on the internet and an address of where they live in your neighborhood. And prison rape is incredibly common. It happens all the time. People get murdered and abused. It is not the sweet life unless you belong to a crime organization that will protect you while you are serving your time. Some people spend endless hours in a small cell with a roommate who might choose to rape them every night. And the ones who do leave jail are often stuck in poverty, unable to get a better life because their family and friends have moved on since they went to jail. The wife or husband probably filed for divorce while they were inside and the friends all went their separate ways. We make it hard on criminals.
A last meal and time with family are small kindnesses compared to the rest of the horrors they end up facing, sometimes for their whole lives.
