There's multiple things you can do, and some of them are listed below.

Sign up for the Do Not Call List. Here is US Gov list.
https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx...

Many individual states, through their attorney general, have similar list. Sign up for both.

It takes a few months to take effect. It then becomes illegal for telemarketers to call you. They can be prosecuted for doing so. Read details off the web site I linked you to. Even though they not supposed to call you, many do not follow the rules, so you have to combine what the web site says with what is your experience.

Also give some thought to what your risk is if the do not call list gets computer security breached.

In the mean time, there's things you can do to discourage them.

Politely tell them you are not interested in buying any products sold via telemarketing, that you have jotted down name of company they said they were with, to add to your list of companies to be boycotted, because you are so adamantly opposed to this method of marketing.

You might consider having your phone # changed.
The phone company will charge you an arm & a leg gecause you changed it "for no reason"

It is a gamble. It depends on how they got your # to call you in first place.

Do you ever get phone call ... you get to the phone & there is no one there? There is a telemarketer system that dials 10 people at same time ... first to answer gets the pitch. Any others to answer go in telemarketer computer ... someone normally home that time of day ... call again same time approx.

I have a gadget I bought at a consumer electronics store that I plug into phone when I am not home. It sends out a tone that makes it sound like my phone has been disconnected, so that if telemarketer calls when I am not home, their computer is updated to say not to call this # again because it is no longer in service.

Brand name of what I got is TELEZIPPER ... I am sure there's lots more like that generally available.

You can get caller id. Some of the telemarketers block their #s. Some don't. You can communicate back to them. Call back at what is probably an inconvenient time for them, and remind them to quit calling you.

Draft a letter to HQ of the company they say they represent ... inform the company that you will be boycotting them for several years because of your annoyance with the harrassing calls of their telemarketers, and if they continue to call you, you will be contacting friends and neighbors suggesting that they join the boycott.

Contact the major credit card credit bureaus ... there are not that many. Inform them that you do not want information on yourself given out for marketing purposes. What happens is, various outfits can get lists of people in an area that have a good credit rating, then go try to sell them all kinds of stuff. But if you have asked not to be included on such lists, then that cuts down on who might call you.

Similar request to every business you do business with ... credit cards, landlord, banks, retailers, public utilities, cable TV, magazine subscriptions ... if you get bills from any outfit, include a letter in your next bill payment requesting that they do not give out information on you for marketing purposes.

Check the Business and Consumer Categories for Credit and Phones ... there's more tips other people mght be able to give you, or you might find in previous answers.

Ok that is called harrassment and they shouldnt call you. What you do is call the local police. Have a trace put on your phone. Monitor how many calls come in per day and trace where the call is coming from. You can sue them because I was a telemarketer and we could not call a home more than twice per day
Get rid of your land line and get a cellphone.
I got an answering machine; most of them have stopped calling. For those that continue ... they talk and I delete.

My friends and family know I will pick up if at home.
tell them to put you on their DO NOT CALL list.. and if they violate that they can be sued..

you must not have a "no call" list to which you can use to stop almost all of them.
Put your name on the "Do Not Call" list! It works wonders, but it does take like a week before people stop calling you still.
from link:
The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at this Website.
https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx...
be really nice and tell them that you're not really interested right now, but you might be in a couple of days.
Answer the phone and say: "please put me on your do not call list. Goodbye." Then hang up.
They must. They can be fined for violating that.
Also go to donotcall.com and register. It will take a few days to get around the links, but they have to stop calling you.
