Legal Drugs?

Is it illegal to take too much (such as past recommend dose) of a legal drug like Tylenol or cough syrup in the USA? Is it illegal to be under influence of such drugs in public?

Answers:
No it is not illegal to do that.

But it is a violation of federal law to huff paint or gas. Go figure.

No but you won't get high - you will damage your liver and get sick and maybe die.
actually, if it impairs your judgement and you hurt someone or something else after consumption it is illegal. They would say that you knowingly "overdosed" and knew that it would impair judgement
