I will tell you of an incident that happened at a UK airport about 3 years ago and it is absolutey true, what
is your opinion of the outcome. a man was arrested for shoplifting a bottle of whiskey in a duty free store. during questioning it turned out he was a member of MI5 (BRITISH SECURITY SERVICE). and he was working undercover on his way to Iraq. the store were ordered to hand over cctv coverage to police, and the tape was destroyed and no further action taken. the british government tried to hush it up , but the press got hold of it, but his name was not made public, on the order of a judge. no action was taken and the agent is apparently still working in the security service. is it common sense that it went no further or should something have been done in the name of justice . this is absolutly true. in britain the general opinion was that the agent should of course not be made known, but he should have recieved some punishment what do you think
Answers:
This is really the least of our problems right now . . .
yes he should have been made to suffer some punishment for his braking the law but i believe his identity should have remained a secret.
Absolutely. A crime is a crime and a criminal, whoever it is, must be punished !
So why are you making these unsubstantiated allegations now?
Since the whole thing got hushed up, you have no way of knowing what penalties the agent suffered.
Common sense tells us that he should be treated just as any other individual. I know it is my company's policy to fire anyone who steals from a patient (I work in health care) no questions asked. I suppose the outcome should reflect the policies of MI5. Maybe he was punished and that was kept quiet too, at least I hope that is the case.
It would not be a true story. No-one gets prosecuted like those who do the prosecuting if they get caught because those in charge of them can't wait to wash their hands of them and don't want to be in anyway held responsible for previous or further 'indiscretions' that come to light. Story-time over.
I think if it was a case of national security, let it go with just a word to the wise to the offender, in any other situation it should be up to the shop keeper.
The man just wanted a drink. Give him a break. Ever see a cop run a red light or speed just for the hell of it? Of course. That's what they do? You wouldn't expect a law offficer to obey the law, would you. In our country, we have a President who does not obey the Constitution, despite taking an oath to uphold it. Should he be brought up on charges? Of course! Will someone do it? No. Because society is corrupt.
Common Sense, would you grudge the guy a wee dram on his way to that $hithole, who knows what his mission was, in my opinion it would be more important to let him get on with his job rather than parading him in front of the media and be ripped to pieces by the pack of PC pitbulls.
