Should I tell collection agencies that I have contacted Consumer Credit Counselors?
My phone rings 50 times a day, because of credit trouble, unemployment and medical bills, I contacted CCCS, but forgot to ask if I should tell the collectors I contacted them. Any ideas? Just thought I'd ask...
Answers:
The calls should stop soon. CCCS will contact your creditors and tell them you are in counseling. Another method is when you answer get the name of the person calling, what company he represents and his supervisors name. Tell them you do not want any more phone calls from them. Once you tell the company this they may not contact you by phone anymore. Follow this up with a letter stating the same thing. Be sure to keep a copy of the letter and send it by registered mail so that someone in the company has to sign for it. This should do it.
You can tell them.. but they are gonna keep calling you till they get your money
You can. Won't stop the phone calls though.
Better would be for you to ask the counselors to contact the collection agencies for you. After all, it's part of their job.
It won't hurt, but won't help either. The only thing that will stop the calls is when you pay up.
you are not supose to talk to anyone who is trying to get money from you after you have talked to CCCs. They will take care of it for you. It might be stressful right now, but it will get better
you can tell them anything you want to. You still owe the bill and must pay it.
