European (austrian) driving license in california?

Just wondering...Im an international student here in California, with a temporary Visa until 2011. Can I buy and drive a car with my EU driving license ? I know its possible to rent a car .

Since you are not a resident, you do not need a California license and "Visitors over 18 years old with a valid driver license from their home state or country may drive in California without getting a driver license as long as their home state license remains valid."

You only need your EU license. And I'll bet you drive much better than most with a California license.
