depends on the company & where it is located & what type of business they do.
many places require regular background checks.
the place i currently work has a 364 day policy. if you leave and return within 364 days you do not need to get rechecked, but if you wait until day 365 it is as if you are starting all over again...physical, testing, checks, etc. in addition they can at any time, with reasonable cause, instigate a check/test/physical/etc.
A lot of companies do background checks on their employees every six months, depending on the nature of the employment.
That is entirely up to the company.
