Any tips on applying to be a police officer?

My son has been waiting to apply for a long time as many of the forces are not currently recruiting. Becoming a 'special' is a very sensible idea. Good luck!

Get yourself a supercilious attitude and act like your the best person walking the street when its a job actually low demanding on any intellectual level. Don't like police myself but if your going to be a fair one i salute you.
Be neither too lenient, nor too aggressive (hey, it's a start).
I applaud you for wanting to join the Police. It is a thankless task.
A good way to get an insight into Police work is to ask at your local station if you can spend a day there.
I don't think they will let you go out ' on the beat ' because of insurance reasons, but I see no problem with seeing the routine inside a station.
I know the Probation Service does this so the Police might.
