Why wolnt the government let me have 2 wives?

If me and my two girlfriends all want to be married, does the govt have a right to say no, isnt that a violation of the seperation of church and state?

Answers:
Why would anyone want TWO wives? Are you a glutton for punishment?

do you have sisters? we are possessive of our things and do not care to share shoes, let alone a man. truth be told, there would be one girl back out (she will sooner or later) and drop you and your ego.
i agree totally.
All legalities aside, why would anyone want to live with two women!? You must be either very young or very foolish or very much full of yourself. Those bigamy laws are there to prevent fraud and to protect foolish people from doing a mischief to themselves.
First of all, government doesn't have any "rights." Government has POWERS.

Second, no it does not violate the separation of church and state for government to legislate the moral views of the people. At least, it does not do so in my opinion. And when it comes to the issue of what "the separation of church and state" means, good luck because all you are ever going to get is a lot of opinions. There is no "correct" explanation of what the "separation of church and state" means.

If you can prove that its genetic, I can't see why not
If you and your girls want to be married then you guys should be allowed to do so. I am married to my husband and we will eventually handfast (spiritual ceremony) to our girlfriend. As long as everyone is of the legal age and is not coerced into it way the heck not. But before this is done, we should allow gay and lesbian people to marry.
Even in most parts of Utah it is frowned upon. It is not a healthy living environment for the women or children, it builds low self- esteem and it is demoralizing to the women. Ask yourself if you would like to be one of many husbands to one woman? I didn't think so.
Definition of bigamy: having one too many wives.

Definition of monogamy: same thing.

Seriously, as a libertarian I believe the government should just stay out of the business of marriage. All it is, legally, is just a contract between consenting adults who want to share each other's property and responsibilities and the government should do nothing more than record the paperwork. If you're gay, or want multiple spouses, I think you should be allowed to go for it. Not that I think polygamy works very well, but I see that as only a personal moral issue and traditional marriage doesn't seem to have a lot going for it either these days.
