Can things done while suffering from a relapse of split-personality, be considered your doing?
in some countries, crimes such as murder are not considered the fault of someone if he's proved to be mentally unstable, something like he'll be in the mental hospital till he's cured.
but what about those suffering from split personality disorder? suppose he did something wrong during that time will he receive similar treatment as someone mentally ill, instead of the normal punishment meted out for a healthy individual?
Answers:
I believe that you are confusing split personality with multiple personality disorder, which is also know as Dissociative Identity Disorder.
A split personality means that a person's mind has split from reality. Multiple personality disorder occurs when two
apparently different personalities occupy the same body.
Quite frequently, the accused will claim to have multiple personality disorder.
A former associate is a psychiatrist who is often called as an expert witness in multiple personality cases. Part of his job is to determine whether or not the accused is telling the truth and then convince a jury that such is the case.
If the accused is actually suffering from multiple personality disorder, he or she will go to a hospital and not to prison.
This is a strange, extremely complicated, and fascinating disorder, but I do not wish to write a book here.
MOODY RED-- The Latin expression "alter ego" does NOT mean one of multiple personalities. This is a common mistake. An alter ego is your best and closest friend.
nice try crazy. yer gonna git the chair.
Just put my alter ego in jail and set me free. Split personality if it has been diagnosed is a mental disorder. However, as I am not an attorney/judge, I don't know how the law would define it.
you better sit down and have a long talk with yourself...your not smart enough to pull this off..
