Can minors check into a hotel with parental consent letter?

Answers:
No. A registration at a hotel is a contract, whereby the renter agrees to pay for damages, room service, phone calls, etc. Because a minor cannot sign a contract, they cannot be sued for extraneous charges. The fact that a parent consents to a minor staying at the hotel doesn't make that parent liable for damages.

Legally, a minor can check in, but that would leave the hotel liable for charges/ expenses above the room rate. No hotel is going to expose itself like that. So the answer to your question is: legally, yes. Realistically, no.

it depends on what state you're in. they have different laws. but, i'm pretty sure you have to be with someone who is 18. unless a parent or gaurdien checks in and then leaves.
Depends on the hotel policy.
Not at the hotel I work at
Not usually. See it's not personal, but the credit card holder must be present with ID to check in. You MAY get a hotel to agree if you pay cash and a deposit (Call first). Most hotels frown upon it because of damage precedents set by previous guests.
No they require an adult for safety and insurance concerns. and it is not a good idea anyway.
Probably not, unless you and your parents have made prior arrangements with the hotel. Even then the hotel may be reluctant to have underage, unescorted guests. Another thing is that you are entering into a contract with the hotel when you register, and minors cannot sign contracts.
No, because most minors if they're not with their parents they probably aren't far from home and the only reason they'd need to be there is for sex, which they are not old enough to consent to even with someone their own age. Though minors are not allowed to, if a reservation is made in their name and they put their own credit card on deposit no one usually cares, because it won't cause them trouble. When I was younger I just made the reservation with my own credit card and they never hassled me about it, but I know people who have been turned away trying to check in with a reservation made on their parents' credit cards in their names. If you pay cash you'll get hassle and they always ask for some for of ID to photo copy and they usually look at it. Just ask an older friend to reserve the room in their name and check you in if you have one, or just ask your parents if they're cool with that sort of thing.
an 18 yr old would not be considered a minor. Being 18 would classify someone as an adult. However under no circumstances would a minor (someone under the age of 18) be able to rent a room at the hotel I manage (we do ask for ID) if we find out that the people in the room are not the same people that rented the room then the guest is evicted without refund and added to our "do not rent" list.
