Can you file for child support before the child is born?

HOWSOON CAN YOU PUT IN AN ORDER FOR CHILD SUPPORT?I AM DUE ANYDAY NOW AND WAS WONDERING IF YOU NEEDED TO WAIT UNTIL THE BABY WAS A CERTAIN AGE OR IF ANY OTHER REQUIREMENTS NEED TO BE MET

Answers:
The correct legal answer is Yes, in all 50 states (in the U.S.) a petition for child support can be filed at anytime before or after the child is conceived.

However, once before the court and prior to a live birth, the court will Stay the proceedings until such time as the child is born live.

Once the child is born, then the proceedings can move forward as with any such child support hearing.

Without a live birth, the court has no jurisdiction over the matter.
You need to wait until the baby is born and then call a lawyer. Most likely, you will need a paternity test for the courts and it's easier and less dangerous once the baby is born. After the testing when they can prove who the father is, you should be able to get child support.
The serious answer is YES but you probably won't get a hearing until after the baby is born (to ensure a live birth or to see if there are complications that need to be addressed).

The non-serious answer is: were you giving the father "visitation" with the baby before the child is born?
You have to wait until Paternity is established...which means you have to pay for the DNA test for the baby and father...if it comes back his baby, he has to pay the money back...if it comes back negative, you have to pay...it is about $500 a piece...(This is unless he signs the Birth Certificate)... then you have to hire a lawyer to draw up the papers...
You can get paperwork started for support but wont receive anything until after baby is born but this also depends on a few things:

One the father needs to acknowledge that he is the father and sign paternity papers.

Two if you are on public assistance progarms ie. welfare, then you won't receive child support.

three, if the father of the baby says he is not the father, then you will have to wait until the baby is born and get a parternity test done and then you will be able to file child support paperwork.

You can get child support at any age for a child. The sooner the better.

Good luck
The paternity of the reported father would be checked first by court order and can be done immediately after birth.

You can't get child support until the baby is born. If you're married to the baby's father support will be set immediately. If you're unmarried, paternity has to be established first, but can be set retroactively to the date you apply (but not prior to that). DO NOT hire an attorney. Go to your local child support agency--it is their job to help you establish paternity and child support--application fees are NOMINAL. DNA testing through a state/county agency can be as little as $200 for all three of you--private testing is MUCH more expensive.

You should call your child support office today and let them know you're having a baby and need to file for support and paternity (if necessary). But the sooner you do the better-as I said support will only be set back (if at all) retro to the date of application.
