Keeping myself and possesions safe and Self-defense?
What is some good self defense tips and ways to keep my possesions safe? I'm asking this because when my mom was little she had her house broken into while they were sleeping, and about a week ago my cousins apartment got broken into but they only stole a wii. But today we went to the pool and my friends money was stolen and one of my friends wallet they left everything else though they just took the dollars. I'm getting very paranoid know so what can I do to keep myself safe?
Answers:
1. Don't take money to the pool and leave it unattended.
2. Better to lose your wii than your life.
If your community has Neighborhood Watch, join it. Research it on the internet.
Keeping yourself safe is important. You can start by making sure you have good locks and use them. Don't have a key outside, leave one with a trusted friend. Make sure doors are solid and that you use a deadbolt.
Self defense classes are probably taught at your local community college or YWCA.
Just don't try to be a hero -- you can protect yourself best by working to prevent the crimes -- and just using common sense.
Take a self defense class - always be aware of your surroundings. There used to be a show on TLC or Discovery Channel - I think it was called "To Catch a Thief" or something like that - 2 guys (ex-robbers) would show how easy it was for some houses to be robbed. They would show how to protect your house and belongings. Sorry for what happened to you and your Mom. God Bless!!
go on the offensive its empowering confront anyone looking like they are up to something plus almost all people have stolen something or another get smart alarm on house don't leave your money lying about and don't be a victim
You have the right to keep and bear arms. Perhaps it is time to exercise that right! For years I was a die hard pacifist but after being the victim of domestic violence, having my home broken into, and being raped, I learned.
In my vehicle I carry pepper spray, a knife, and a taser. In my home I have 4 dogs, (1 Pitt bull and 3 rottweilers), 3 guns (a 380 semi automatic handgun, a 12 gauge shotgun, and a 50 caliber revolver), a small crossbow, and a large collection of Oriental knives.
The next person who messes with my family or me will never mess with another person!
By the way, all the weapons are legal and those that require registration are properly registered.
