Is it possible to find a pro bono DUI attorney in the O.C. area?

I am having to get a sentence modification on the 2nd half of my sentence for a dui which is rehab (i WANT to go) but i have to have surgery so I need to delay the sentence. My PD will not return calls so may need a private attorney and am broke.

Answers:
Even though you are broke, I would still contact the attorney you worked with for the first part of your case. If you cannot afford an attorney one will be appointed for you -- and this doesn't end when you are in the middle. If your attorney cannot assist you without payment (which they likely won't) they should be able to direct you to someone who can.

You may also be able to go to the court directly and work for yourself. Research on the internet how to file for a sentence modification, and then file it without an attorney. However, you assume a lot of risks doing it this way.

If that doesn't work, take out a loan to pay for an attorney. Sure, you'll be paying on it forever, but that is the price you pay for drinking and driving.

PD has a duty to communicate with his clients. Though you are a nonpaying client, that's the PD's job. You need to contact him and remind him of his ethical and professional responsibilities.
