I try one more time with this question?
Sorry I can't put the question in the title because the moderator doesn't seem to like it.
What do you think about chemical castration for serial rapists and/or pedophiles? for those who seem not being able NOT to rape when they get out of jail.
It's been twice now during the last hour that I try to put a question in "Law and Ethics" about chemical castration for the serial rapists and pedophiles but the questions have both been deleted by the moderator! I don't understand why!
Why can't I ask a question about that?
It's being debated in the UK and in Texas (and probably many other countries or states) as you can see in these articles:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news...
http://www.texnews.com/texas97/ouch05089...
And I didn't ask anything weird about it! I just asked what people thought about it!!
If somebody knows the e-mail address of the moderator, please give it to me.
Thank you in advance.

The moderator may be a pedophile.
as for your question - not for the 1st offense.
but, for serial sex offenders - sure.

what's the deal with Texas protecting pedophiles ? that's not something I thought Texans would do !
sounds like a good idea but i say make them spend the rest of their lives in a dark room
chemical castration? I think it should be the same way the old farmer did my young bulls (found better ways next time), a slice grab the nut and jerk, and do it in a public square with the TV on.
I think chemical castration for rapists and pedophiles is an excellent idea. Anytime there is a change in the laws in America there will always be someone who opposes the new way, even if it is a good idea. Legislators have to have the guts to stand up to opposition and make necessary changes to the legal system. Chemical castration is one of these changes that needs to be made.
1. Chemical castration only works while the individual CONTINUES to take the medication. When they stop taking the meds, the effects wear off.
2. Rape and in many ways pedophilia are not so much about sex as they are about power and control. They will often still do the same whether they are chemically or physically castrated or not.
3. Anything short of MANDATORY DEATH for pedophiles is too lax for my taste. They have well in excess of 90% recitivism and according to a large majority of psychologists the only reason the number is NOT 100% is because teh remaining are simply not caught again.
I think it is a good idea but I would go one step further for pedophiles: just kill them outright. There is no need to keep a pedophile (most), incarcerated with the hopes that they will be reformed. If you have been convicted of molesting a young child, say under 14, you are sick, twisted, and useless. The younger the child the worse the crime and if the child is 9 or younger you should be immediately put to death. There is absolutely NO DEFENSE for an act against young children. Such creatures (the offender) are a plight on society and they deserve nothing but death.
In some situations a person can be classified as a pedophile but the crime is not necessarily horrible. Example: an 18 year old high school senior has sex with a17 year old high school senior. This could go to court and cause the 18 year old to be classified as a pedophile. I gurantee nobody here would equate that example with the thing that molestes an 8 year old.
'nuff said. I am all for severe (or more severe) punishments for pedophiles.
Death penalty would be better.
Castration just means they can't reproduce.
They can still have sex. Though it may stop the urges.
I think the reason it's not used more frequently is because the science is pretty new, as is the research about recidivism rates and other things about sex offenders. Basically, it's a pretty permanent treatment, and there's evidence showing that rapists simply cannot be treated successfully, and other studies showing that they can. It's hard to get law enforcement and medical researchers (or anyone else, for that matter) to agree on anything.
If it's proven to really work, and to really reduce the number of rapes, etc., then I'm sure it would be used much more.
Fascism is indeed alive and well in the USof A.
