Can you file for unemployment if you were laid off from a part time job?
My father is retired from the USPS and works a part time job. He is about to get laid off from his part time job due to it closing down. He works 24 hours a week.

You should check the website for the unemployment department in your state.
Most states have a specified number of hours that you must have put in over the previous year (may be defined in some areas by a dollar amt vs a number of hours). The only way to confirm for sure whether or not your father is eligible is based on his state's requirements.
hmm yes i think so
I think you have to be full time
They base unemployment payments on how much he earned in a certain period. If he made enough, he can. He'll need to check with his local employment office. Good luck
When I was between job's I had a part-time job. When my services were no longer needed I filed for unemployment and got it. However, I wasn't retired from another job.
He's losing his job due to no fault of his own. Because he's retired from another job I see no reason he wouldn't qualify for unemployment. However, unemployment can be a confusing situation.
All I can suggest at this time is either go to the unemployment office or call. Your dad should do this, as they may have questions you can't answer.
Don't know if you looked up unemployment on the computer or not. Give it a try. You may come away with a lot of information.
Wish I could have been more help to you. Take Care.
