Is it legal for a company to refuse a refund when no where is it stated at the time of purchase that refunds?

are not given? not posted any where on the retailer's property nor on the reciept. Can they legaly deny you a refund? In my case I purchased a service for quite a bit of money. This sevice involved a "reaction test" before the actual procedure. However right after the test I was asked or should I say "pressured" to pay for the complete service, not giving me any time to wait for the results A couple days later I noticed a painful reaction and decided that this was something I did not want to do. I have yet to have any of the procedures performed since it could only be booked a couple weeks out. I now want my money back, since I was not aware how much pain it would actually cause. Please help. I feel like I am being screwed here>

Answer:
Unless you sign a contract, payment for a service never rendered is fully refundable unless otherwise stated on some form of receipt or posting within the place where the service is offered. Lets say this procedure is for botox, and you never had the botox procedure performed... duhhh... you are entitled to your money back ESPECIALLY if you declined to go through with it due to health reasons.

Now, I am not a lawyer. I just watch a lot of TV Judge shows and last night I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, but I would definately take this company to small claims or otherwise dependant on where you live. Unless this is a corporation no lawyer will be necessary. Just take them to court, any documentation you have (take as much documentation as possible because the burden will be on you to prove that there was a no-refund policy), and you should be good. Unfortunately this happens waaaaay too often, and unless people like you start suing on a regular basis companies will never be forced to post, inform of, or sign a written no-refund/refund policy.

Are you in pain because of a reaction? Or is it a painful procedure that you're trying to chicken out of now that you want your money back?
Despite what many people may tell you, there is no "right" to a refund in most consumer transactions, whether there is a posted policy or not. The decision to give a refund depends upon the retailer. Your case may be a little different since it sounds like your talking about some sort of health or cosmetic procedure.

You should call the state agency regulating the partiular provider you are talking about. See what they have to say. It may be that there are specific regulations that cover your situation. Good luck.
If you are in the U.S. you should probably check with the Consumer Protection unit of your state's Attorney General's Office. They can advise you on what your recourse would be and if they can help you get satisfaction. If you are in another country, I'm not sure what agencies you may have, but I would imagine they have a similar protection unit.
