Should the Fairness Doctrine be reinstated?
Anyone want to give a shot to why they believe it should or shouldn't; i hope to have a healthy debate on this issues between users. Evidence is just as important as logic in this debate as well.
Answers:
The Fairness Doctrine basically says that people whose ideas cannot win a place in the marketplace on their own, can have their ideas heard through legislation. It is the antithesis of free speech.
There is no reason to reinstate this law which was a major inhibitor of free speech. Why should a radio station have to seek our opposing viewpoints if they then lose money and thus can give neither side. The only reason this is being brought up is democrats know that the development of Conservative Radio in the last 20 some years has given conservatives an outlet that they never got with the mainstream media (television, newspapers, or magazines). The move on immigration by conservative radio was seen by liberal groups as another reason to block conservatives from having a voice to discuss these issues of importance to them.
