Can the landlord evict me If i choose not to buy the apartment im living in? It has been converted into a condo and i dont want to buy it. my lease expires in a few months, Will I be able to get a new lease? im in nyc.

NOT IF THE OWNERS DOESN'T WANT TO LEASE TO YOU. ONCE THE LEASE EXPIRES YOU ARE OUT ESPECIALLY IF THE BUILDING HAS CONVERTED. I LIVE DOWNTOWN BATTERY PARK AND THE REAL ESTATE HERE IS BOOMING.

If he's converting it to a condo, he can evict you. But if he then rents it out to someone else, you have a claim for action.
Well, two thoughts come to my mind.
Lease or month to month!
First of all I am not familiar with Ny rental laws you might want to check with the housing authority to verify what I am going to tell you.
In most cases if you have a lease the landord must uphold that lease for what ever time frame it is for, however in certain cases where they sell property it is possible for the new owner not to honor the lease but that should be given to you in a form of a written notice with at least 30 days to allow you to move.
If your lease is expired or going to, it is possible the owner could give you a notice to vacate, again he/she would have to give you at least 30 days.
The best way is to contact the owner or landlord and ask if they are going to continue your lease or sign a new lease agreement. They should be willing to provide you this information.
Maybe you should ask about a lease with an option to buy.
You can always back out of the option to buy, but it may look better to the owner who wants to sell the property, also if you sign a new lease agreement make sure you cover yourself in the lease with an statement like if the owner sells the property the lease agreement must stay intact until it expires, or something along the lines that you get x amount of days to vacate the property.
