Truck driving laws in vermont?

I have been told that as a tuck driver in Vt that I cannont work for more than 70 hours and that would mean that I couldnt get another job part time...Is that possible that they can tell you that you cant have another side job even if it wasnt truck driving but maybe working at a convience store?

That is a federal D.O.T. law not a state law, it says that you can not DRIVE over 70 hours a week, it has nothing to do with getting a second job when you are at home.
