What do you think about gun control?

I know people sometimes need guns to protect themselves ,but there's no doubt that its way too easy for just anybody to get guns. Also, I think that there are many types of guns that simply shouldn't be sold to the public.

more people are killed by knives

what about cars

true gun control wont do any good.....

if you want to save the life of a child....more kids drown in backyard swimming pools every summer than ten years worth of gun related deaths....

a gun is a tool.not a magic wand

the current view and attitude of college educated Americans are against the use of hand tools of any kind...guns somehow got associated with "getting your hands dirty"....

listen kid....people have died for the right to keep and bear arms...something not to be thrown away lightly..and think...just your right to mouth off like you are now..is also a hard fought and won right....and your rights are fought for with guns....

I am in favor of a national law that will allow ANY lawful American to carry a concealed weapon...

we need to take back the streets from the gangs and punks..and I cant think of a better way to start than to "defend" our property or lives against these inner city cockroaches..

get real...the most dangerous element in society

"...no doubt..." I doubt that statement.
the sad truth is that if you take away gun's from honest people. The only people that will have them is the criminal's.They will not turn there illegal gun's in.
If you don't have control of your gun, you can miss your target completely, especially if he is moving.
Gun control means using both hands.of course I agree! Actually thats a bumper sticker I saw lol
The founding fathers could never have predicted where we are now.
To them, ownership of guns was a way to prevent the government from usurping their rights. That is not the case today.
I'm not opposed to guns. I have several, and don't intend to give them up. However, the second amendment is, in my opinion, largely misconstrued.
I think that reasonable people should be able to agree that assault weapons are not "needed" by the average citizen. If you want a pistol to protect your family, or a shotgun to hunt with, fine. However, I see no good reason for anyone, other than a soldier, to possess an assault rifle.
Outlaw people who would abuse a gun. In England there is just as much danger. Just you get stabbed to death or beaten with a piece of steel or a bat. I own 5 guns none have ever harmed a human.
I would like to address your 1st and last part of your question...

* 1st part, "I know people sometimes need guns to protect themselves",
I agree, and I'm certainly glad that includes you and I should we ever determine that we need that option.

** Last part, "I think that there are many types of guns that simply shouldn't be sold to the public".
I agree, (but that is not our current reality) and I'm certainly glad that includes you and I to be able to also do the same, should we find ourselves, when that day comes, that we are able to completely and honorably defend ourselves and families because of our own overwhelming and superior fire power.
You don't know much about the subject.
There is a lot of law now on the books restricting who can buy, and what kind of guns can be bought.
(Eg. : Just try to buy a machine gun, or even a handgun, (most places), and see how far you get.)
You're probably an urban dweller. - Out in the country, guns are so commonplace that they're considered just everyday tools. - And they are.
The Anti-Gun lobby laments that there are "over 150 million guns in this country". (Their figures)
Think about that number. There are only about 300 Million people here. How many house-holds?
All those guns didn't just show up. They were chosen, bought and paid for, with hard earned cash.
I'd say the people have already voted on this issue.
As to the motivation for all this anti-gun media blitz:
It is not a popular movement. It is a political move by an elitist clique.
If I were a member of the 5% of the population who hold 95% of the wealth, I'd be a bit disturbed that the other 95% of the population had access to guns too.
