Do you agree with smoking bans?
Laws which say there's no smoking in any bar, restaurant or office, like they just passed in Illinois? People can only smoke at home, in their cars or outside.
Answers:
Yes, why should I have to suffer because other people have a bad habit that can effect others who don't?
No, I think that businesses should be able to designate themselves as smoking or non-smoking and people can decide whether or not to go there or work there.
No. I don't believe in smoking bans in private establishments. It should be a matter for the free market to determine.
The government should be able to ban smoking in governmental buildings and other places that are reasonable (schools, hospitals, etc).
But restaraunts and bars? No, the government should allow the owners of such establishments to determine if they want to have smoking or not. If they do well, then they know their decision was a wise one. And if you don't smoke and want to go to a smoke free bar, then either find one or open one of your own.
In office buildings, restaurants and other like public places, yes. In bars, I think that should be up to the bar owner. People expect smokers in bars.
I agree that a business should decide, they many laws that have to be followed and now the government is going to far. What's next banning chewing gum and chocolate.
Sort of. I am normally a big freedom rights person. However, in this case, I do not think that smokers should have the right to poison nonsmokers. That being said, I think there are places that should be exempted from this- such as cigar bars and places like that.
As a country whose economy was founded on free enterprise, I don't feel that these regulations are right. However as a consumer I have always avoided places that are smoking establishments. I have and would vote against smoking referendums as a principal, but I can understand why other voters might vote for such a referendum as many people vote on what they want, rather than what is best for our society and country.
