Depending on what state you live in, they are already legal.
They are legal. And they're called handguns. What's the question??
All responsible citizens should be able to carry concealed guns without government control. Armed citizens are the greatest fear for criminals when they are committing the act.

eure. I'm capable with a handgun. I' m also a law abiding citizen and I don't see why I should not be able to defend my property if necessary.
Yeah I agree but anyone who wants to own a gun should be willing to learn how to use it. They should be required to go to firing ranges, take safety classes, etc. They should have to prove that they're not too stupid or angry to own a weapon.
Plus, how do people think that a gun will keep them safe?? If you dont' know how to use it, it can be used against you fairly easily. Using and caring for a weapon isn't as easy as it looks in the movies.
The second ammendment does not refer to hand guns nor does it refer to the individual. In numerous court rulings, including the supreme court, the second amendment has been interpreted to apply only to the rights of the states to form and arm a militia. What we now call the national guard. It gives no rights to any individual. The second amendment is one sentence made up of two phrases, separated by a comma. The first phrase, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State," has been ruled time and time again by the courts to mean that this is the stated purpose of the amendment. The second phrase, "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed" refers to, again according to numerous court interpretations, allowing the states to arm the people who comprise the militia.
The second amendment was rewritten during the congressional congress more than a half dozen times because the founding fathers wanted to be sure that in the future the courts would know that their intent was to allow the states to maintain their own militias. All of these earlier writings as well as much of the discussion and argument that went on over this and other amendments and sections of the constitution can be found in the federalist papers.
When will everybody finally get it? The constitution gives nobody the right to keep and bear any kind of arms that they wish. That's why state and federal firearms control laws have managed to survive many constitutional challenges. If you don't believe me you can do this to prove it to yourself. Just walk onto a California school yard openly carrying a loaded assault rifle and from your jail cell you can then argue how your constitutional right to keep and bear arms has been violated all the way to the supreme court. You'll lose of course but perhaps you'll no longer be confused.
