How old does a child have to be to stay home alone in Washington State? Please and thank you.

you can babysit family at 12 so I would assume at 12
15 years old

The 1st time I stayed home alone was when i was 11.
They should at least be 13.
They should also have a cell phone just in case of an emergancy.
some states do not define this. I have been told if the child can reach water , food then they are old enough. best advise is call and talk to CPS/police . I was told this by cps when I went to a call in TX of a 6-8 year old left at home alone. CPS asked me if they could reach water and had food and living condition were normal. I was very surprised CPS would not go forward with charges of " child abandonment" Mom was called and interviewed.
