I jump the fence at the White house and started camping on the lawn, could I claim that I am just trying to find work to support my family? Or would I be arrested and thrown off the property?

go right ahead and the fbi and cia will take you away never to be heard from again, or if you are you won't be the same. They will give you psychedelic drugs and torture you along with electroconvulsive shock therapy and after that give you a frontal lobotomy. After that they will get you addicted to crack and alcohol and put you out on the street with no memory and not much of a mind remaining. Or, they could just set you free. La dee da.
