How long before you get the inheritance ?
if rich person died and he put you in his will how long the lawyer contact you if you inherite something?.thanks.

In England it depends on how long it takes to get Probate. Could be a month could be a few years it depends on how the estate was left in...whether it was organised or very complicated.and messy.

In Scotland if the will needs to go through Probate then it takes roughly a year as far as I am aware. Don't know about rest of UK.
Greedy or what - it wasnt your money in the first place, so no matter how long it takes, why do you ask? It is a bonus that will reach you in time.

Maybe he didn't put you in the will - and that's why the lawyer hasn'tcontacted you?
In the US the usual procedure is for the will to go through probate which is a court hearing to decide whether the will is valid or not. Once that is done then I guess the beneficiaries would be notified.

The reading of the will is just the first step.
Assuming he has assets, an administrator must be appointed for the estate. This is the individual in charge of dispersing the assets subject to the order of the court.
This assumes, however, that no individual is contesting the terms of the will, the will is valid and lawful, and there are no other liens on the estate, such as back taxes, debts or other liabilities. If so, you will only recieve a pro-rated portion of whatever you were bequeathed.
Don't forget too - if you are not a relative, your inheritance may be taxable. Consult with a tax advisor in your area.
You should pretend it doesn't exist at all - forget about it, that way when it shows up, it's a pleasant surprise.

I received quite a lot of money from a relative, a few years ago, was out of the states at the time and his lawyer tracked me down to tell me what I was going to get. It turned my whole life upside down and have not worked a day since.
That was 30 years ago, and I am still on vacation.
